I am using SCO unix, and I do not believe I set up TCP/IP correctly. My host file has {machine_name} {machine_name}.{domain}, but I had the machine name and domain the same. I then installed TCP/IP protocol to 7.1.4. I can start up orasrv, but when I try to shut it down I get a message telling me that can't resolve machine name. If I put another line in my /etc/hosts file with the machine_name and host name the same, I can shut down. I consider this a minor inconvenience, but would like to have it working corretly with machine_name and domain different. Do I just have to reinstall TCP/IP protocol for Oracle now that I have my machine and domain name correct?
