I agree with Dave Roth's reply to your problem, but neither of you mentioned the use of SYNONYMS to allow users to access the tables without having to refer to them as OWNER.TABLE_NAME. This could be the actual problem you are experiencing at present. I would recommend that you set up a special user id that owns your applications, and as Dave said, place all applications in application tablespaces for improved future management of Oracle.
