At a site we had Oracle 6 & 7 running on the smae machine. The make switching easier for users, .COM files were created to set the symbols and logicals to the appropriate vales and execute the the right Oracle COM files. This worked very well. This was also done to switch instances within the same version of the Oracle RDBMS.
