Character Mode Forms Products?

Yesterday we received the inevitable word that SQL*Froms 3.0 would only be supported for 1 more year. Unfortunately, we have clients with new projects that desire centralized forms applications, i.e., character mode. Has anybody had experience with Oracle Forms (version 4.0) in a character mode environment? Is this functionality currently available? What are the alternatives to Oracle Forms in character mode, on a Unix platform? Are there any plans to port Powerbuilder to Unix?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
