In a previous article, sjs_at_shell.portal.com asked if they should backup the TEMP tablespace and I (too hastily) replied "not necessary". After playing several disaster/recovery scenarios, I retract my statement. Without backup of the TEMP tablespace data file, you have no fall-back position for recovery. I am sorry if my initial answer caused and problems or confusion.
