Your both wrong I'm afraid <g>. I've had the same problem. It seems that the orasrv line in the services file need to be terminated with a line-feed. If it is the last line in the file, and there is no line-feed, SQL*Net (or something) doesn't find it. Putting in a line-feed on the end fixed it for us.
