Hi Alistair,
OpenLink Software's High Performance ODBC Drivers do not have these problems when using ODBC compliant development environments such as VB.
By not depending on SQL*Net we have been able to apply a "Rule Book" approach to the management of you ODBC based Clien-Server environment. Thus we handle MANUAL COMMITS, the ability to set/switch Oracle OPTIMISATION GOALS, and the ability to set ORACLE LOCK MODES today.
