Doug,

Your statement in your "Statement of direction: Apple Macintosh Platform" lead me to conclude that the reverse of the problem we have now will manifest itself sometime in 95. That is, 68xxx Mac will not be supported and PowerPC Macs will be supported?

As an IS professional working is a large Macintosh environment using mainly Oracle servers, are you suggesting that we go out and upgrade all of our 68xxx Mac to PowerPC Mac? Let's see that 3500 Mac times ~$2500/Mac = $8,750,000.00, Wow!!

So, how do you suggest I plan my client/server projects for the next year or until Oracle decides on which of the Mac platforms it will support? I need the flexability which client/server provides in application development. We need to implement applications with Workflow management, Document management, Application version control, and many other capabilities that can be better done in a client/server environment.

Oracle is forcing us to look at alternatives to the client side. Like 4D, PowerBuilder, or Smalltalk.
