Keep in mind that the clock is ticking on SQL*Net V1 support.

In the long run all new features are being placed under SQL*Net V2 only. And V2 isn't all that hard to set up compared to V1 (it's mostly a one time cost of learning how to configure things, but you find that the knowledge is more portable from platform to platform and protocol to protocol than V1 was).

Wouldn't know if it fixes the problem posted by the original poster. There should not be a problem with having both V1 and V2 listeners run side by side on the server to handle clients coming in with their SQL*Net version of choice.
