Hack:

We will be using HACAMP very soon in a production environement. Is your statement directed at HACMP in general or the lock mananger supporton on the rs/6000 to do OPS ? It is my understanding that there are many people who rely on HACMP for failover type services. I have no info on the oracle lock manager for rs/6000 but we are going to be setting up a pretty complicated 3-way HACMP cluster within the next several months. Your statement is somewhat unclear. HACMP is considered to be the limo for this type of service. ATT's lifekeeper is also very nice.

We are also going to be running OPS on NCR 3000 boxes. ATT is the original architect of the distributed lock manager for shared oracle databases on unix platform. Their dlm is really nice. I have it installed and up and running. OPS is not applicable to every type of oracle application and should probably only be deployed to solve certain types of problems. We are going to be using it to provide a shared path to our oracle databases for redundancy purposes. In actuality we will probably not run our databases everyday in a shared mode. Its a nice layer to have under your databases - provides some real flexability. Only problem is that right now everything has to be raw. In the next year to so we will start to see concurrent and cluster file systems coming out from IBM and ATT. Now that is probably someways off!

If you have addition experiences with OPS, HACMP, etc. continue to post. I am very interested and will do the same !
