See the TPC-B lists, e.g. Siemens-Nixdorf RM600-240 with 789.88 tpsB and an excellent price/performance below $1000 ($ 990 per tpsB). The used machine had 8 R4400-processors, 512MB memory running Oracle 7.0.15
