I seem to have missed the first post on this. But going by the subject it sounds like a SQL*Net V1.0 Client is having problems connecting to a SQL*Net V2.0 Server.

From what I understand, you need the same version on both sides. This is because in Net V1.0 is looking for a process on the server called ORASERV or someting like that. The Net V2.0 is using something called TSLISTENER or something like that. I wish I had my doc set here.
