Mike,
NeoAccess is an object database engine that extends all standard application frameworks, including MFC. The engine consists of a set of C++ classes. In much the same way you use MFC to implement the front-end of your application, NeoAccess is what you use to build the back-end. NeoAccess is small (<100K) and VERY fast. It sounds like it would be able to meet the requirements of your system.
