Hi! I am relatively new to Oracle7 and I need help. The problem is that my company does not have an Oracle DBA and I need to set up some users in Oracle7.

I have an existing database out there which is in the SYSTEM tablespace. I would like to create an additional database simply for testing purposes and maybe call it demo (which also resides in the SYSTEM tablespace, if possible). Can I have more than 1 database defined in Oracle7 that can be accessed by multiple users?

I would like to be able to create different user groups in Oracle, e.g. for Sales, Marketing, Support, etc. with each group having different priviledges. I want to be able to set up individual roles and then create users with their default set to the roles I have set up for marketing, sales, etc.

I have experimented with it and I am not having tremendous success.

Can anyone provide me some assistance in this matter, please? I have read the manual(s) and tried my best to follow it but having little time to spend and no opportunity to receive any training, I am at a loss.

Thank you in advance.

Please respond to me directly at
