DROPPING v7.0.x USERS

Does anybody know how to reduce the time required for
DROP USER <user> CASCADE;
statements to execute? We have tried dropping all user objects and grants before issuing the drop command, but it doesn't seem to make much difference.
Currently it takes anywhere from 6 to 30 minutes to drop users.
Any info appreciated.
