Sometimes when you get a winsock error that means that the supplier of your TCP/IP protocal does not get along with the SQL*NET TCP/IP and may require that you use either a newer or older version of winsock.dll. This is what I had to do when connecting to a remote via SQL*NET TCP/IP for windows. As far as your other CASE 5.1.7 errors I don't know. I will be using the CASE 5.1 product but have not yet installed.

I will be using an HP 9000/750 Unix machine as host and Gateway 2000 Pentiums as clients.
