Data damage from disk crashes should be a thing of the past. With the new, fast & intelligent Redundant Arrays of Inexpensive/Independent Disks, and their I/O high acceleration technology, large database administrators get both data fault tolerance and significant performance/ throughput enhancements for their users. As has been mentioned before, RAID guru John O'Brien has published extensive technical papers which describe how these new large-scale systems work. (Copies are available here.)
