Help using ODBC with Oracle

I am trying to get ODBC working to connect to our Oracle RDBMS V6. I think I have it all installed. I installed the driver.

Do I need to also use Oracle SQL*Net?

When I make the connection right now I get an error saying invalid SID.

Who is sending the message? Is that coming from the server or from the ODBC driver/SQL*Net?

Where do I privide this info?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
