Yes SQL TR is still available, it is being used in a number of places in Australia, and other parts of the World. The current version is 2.1 however 3.0 will be due (hopefully) later this year. 3.0 will support many new features including the ability to search in parallel multiple text tables.
After an initial rough start we like SQL TR after evaluating many of the alternative Text Retrieval systems including BRS.
