The problem with the ORACLE reference books is subject matter: the books tend to either teach ORACLE's version of SQL or ORACLE tools (e.g., forms). The only reference I know that actually deals with management (albeit obliquely) is _ORACLE Performance Tuning_. The only references dealing with the basics are the ORACLE Corp. reference guides (that I know of).
