I don't believe the news software (INN, CNEWS) as it now stands supports this, although it sounds like useful functionality.

Reading a large newsgroup like this is much easier with a threaded news reader like trn. It groups articles by subject - I'm reading all the articles with the above subject line now at one time.

Lets keep it one group. Ask your news admin to install a threaded newsreader. I don't think there will necessarily be any better consistency by newsgroup.
