I am writing an article for a trade publication on the subject of version control / config mgmt of DDL (tables, columns, views, sequences). For example, keeping track of multiple revisions of table creation source code.

What do you use for this purpose?

1. Oracle CASE? other CASE tools?
2. Unix RCS? SCCS?
3. Intersolv PVCS?
4. plain old Oracle data dictionary?
5. other?

How big a priority is this in your shop? Have you developed customized tools, scripts, etc.? If you use other DBMS's, how do you find their version control systems?

thanks for any input you provide

DT
