   Hi,

thanks for taking time to read this message, it is already much appreciated!

I am currently trying to produce a benchmark that aims to prove that Oracle 7    running on a Sun mini computer (UNIX) can satisfactorily handle our project's    expected load. I need to simulate a large number of concurrent users (About    300), which are meant to be using Forms 4 and PLL/SQL, using the    Client/Server model.

We did some similar benchmarking a few years ago and found a very useful tool for simulating the users. It's called Remote Terminal Emulator (RTE) by Neal Nelson and Associates (Chicago). It allowed us to develop scripts to simulate users and then coordinate the execution of those scripts. It also has the facility to record response time, vary typing speed, fetch data randomly, etc. We were very pleased with it and saved lots of time from writing something ourselves.
