I'm not sure about "Microsoft's TCP/IP stack that comes free with WFW 3.11"; however, I have been running SQL*Net 1.1.7.7B over MS TCP/IP-32 ('Daytona' beta) with WFW 3.11 for about a week now without problems.

MS TCP/IP-32 is available via anonymous FTP from ftp.microsoft.com.
