We've had great success with Q+E products. Nothing is bug-free, but we've had wonderful cooperation when we have managed to flush out a creepy-crawly from under a rock :-)

Out best success has come using the Q+E Database Library. This is not a VBX, as such, but is a full-fledged DLL that can be used from VB/VC/Excel/whatever. Performance is on a par with Oracle Glue, but the ability to support >23 different databases (not just Oracle) is quite useful when dealing with the inevitable odd-ball systems that every large company seems to have lurking about.

As always, your mileage may vary!
