Re: Permission problem installing 7.0.12 on HP-UX (kinda fixed)

here's the problem I was having:

I discovered that the file $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle did not have the suid bit set, compared to my good system. Fixing that seemed to clear up most of my problems, with one exception, which I'm posting here for (some kind of) completeness. I'm not too worried about this one at this stage, and I'll probably reinstall yet again in the near future.
