DB2/6000 shares a code base with DB2/2. As a marketing move, IBM has started calling all their DBMS DB2. Thus we have DB2/MVS (real DB2), DB2/VM-VSE (SQL/DS), DB2/2 (formerly OS/2 Database Manager rewritten to be 32 bit) and DB2/6000 (32-bit OS/2 DBM ported to AIX). Although there is a great deal in common, they are NOT the same DBMS on multiple platforms. DB2/6000 ain't DB2.
