An excellent series of articles on Oracles Future appears in Inoformation Week magazine, 12/13/93.
The Gartner Group is quoted as predicting that Oracle will grow to serve 48% of the Unix market by 1997. Oracle currently has 43% of that market.
More significantly, the market is expect to grow from an $813 million today to 2.3 billion in 1997.
Other parts of this prediction:
Today 1997 Informix 22% 12% Ingres 13% 7% Sybase 11% 14% IBM ~0% 9
