Q+E Software sells an ODBC Driver Pack for $199 (US) that includes pretty good drivers for both Oracle 6 and Oracle7, plus about a dozen other drivers, like Sybase, Ingres, Paradox, DB/2, etc. Also, Oracle is working on a driver which may be available in the next couple of months as part of a new 'connectivity' product.

I haven't done any real timing tests, so I don't know if the Q+E driver is faster than Microsoft's, but I find it more flexible, and overall easier to work with.

Also, as I recall, Microsoft's driver is for Oracle 6, with unsupported access to Oracle 7. I'm not sure why you can't connect to Oracle 6, but you shouldn't rely too heavily on the Microsoft driver for Oracle7 access.
