I am having a problem with the performance of retrieving the results of
queries using SQL*Net SPX for Windows. I have narrowed it down to a simple
query issued from SQLDBA which returns 482 rows and takes 15 seconds when
run from a workstation but only 3 seconds when run from the server. I am
running a local ethernet network so I don't expect to see this performance
degredation over the network.
Can anyone who is using SQL*Net on a Novell network let me know what kind of
performance they are seeing. I am trying to determine if SQL*Net is just slow
or if I have a problem. Has anyone experienced this kind of problem? Any
suggestions of things that I could try would be greatly appreciated. I am
running out of ideas.
My specific environment is an Oracle 7 server on a 486/50 running OS/2 V2.1,
Microsoft Windows 3.1 on a 386/33 client machine connected via ethernet on a
Novell V4 network. I have tried my tests using both SQL*Net 1.1 and Beta 2.0.
Thanks
