IMO, at this point, if what you want is to developing simple-to-somewhat-complex screens, charts, etc., I'd go with Microsoft Access 1.1 and ODBC. You can also use MS Excel, Foxpro for Windows, etc. - the Microsoft suite of tools. This isn't intended to be an ad for Microsoft, but for basic functionality, they're hard to beat, and software, books, training, etc. are available just about anywhere.
