Problem with SQLMENU50

Looking for some help with two sqlmenu50 problems I am having. The first one is when I am using the operating system command, run a report, put the report in a file and then cat the file the last 5 to 25 lines of the file lose their format. When I cat the file outside of Menu50 the file is just fine.
Secondly, I was wondering why when I use a variable in a report I am unable to cat the file the information is sent to at all.
