QIC-80/Rhomat & SCO

We are replacing all the Mini-cartridge tape drives with QIC-80 tape drives on SCO boxes. If the tape was pulled out when exporting to the Mini-cartridge drives, 'exp' would exit with an error. With the new tape drives, 'exp' checks once and then starts exporting. If you pull the tape out, it goes on it's merry way. We are exporting directly to tape. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
