Automated report printing on a remote printer

I have been attempting to print out reports on a printer that is connected to
a remote machine. You can print any unix file by sending the proper contrl
sequence. ie. ^[[5i turn_on ^[[4i turn_off. Has anybody been able to use this
stuff with reports?
