We have used KERMIT for many years now, and we are quite satisfied. One great advantage with KERMIT is that it is easy to map the keys just as you like it. We use our own keymap for KERMIT which is much like the layout for ORACLE on MSDOS PCs.

Kermit is rather clever in supporting different network protocols, and not to forget: KERMIT is free!
