Just a couple of notes here.

  1. I noticed that blank response sheets were counted as having a score of Zero! A bit unfair for a presenter who has a lot of disinterested attendees that walk out and drop their blank score cards. They should be discarded.
  2. I believe that the current scoring system does not take into account of the number of votes. This should have a bearing on the final score.

For eaxmple, Presenter 1 had 20 votes and his average score is 8.5 out of

  1. Presenter 2 had 200 votes but scored 8.4. One would think that there should be some adjustment there.

I would like to see some ammenments to take into account of the number of     votes. There should also be a minimum number of votes.

The objectives of the presentations are to have topics that are good and     attract attendees to these conferences. Having an obsecure topic being     presented and winning the best paper will only give a negative impression     of the topics being presented.

The reason I am saying this is because during one year at the Oracle     Asia-Pacific User Conference we had a winner which according to a majority     of attendees at his presentation was obviously not the most interesting     or popular presentation.

Hope someone on the commitee takes note.
