I have seen HOPS in the flesh, and yes, it blows away anything else I've ever seen. However, (at that time - about a year ago) it was optimized for query operations and did not do OLTP. If they've gone for OLTP, they could have a great high-end product. Check out their costs very carefully before you get excited; it is a hardware-based, closed, VERY proprietary solution.
