shutdown immediate question

The Oracle7 manual says you must shutdown normal prior to a cold backup, but the V6 manual says that even a shutdown abort is okay.
The Oracle7 later conflicts with itself.
If you do have to shutdown normal, how can it be done automatically? I'm concerned that it will wait too long for all sessions to finish. Received on Thu Oct 14 1993 - 19:30:48 CET
