Running Oracle6 and Oracle7 concurrently?

We plan to convert to Oracle7 soon but would like to test first. Can we run Oracle6 and Oracle7 instances concurrently on the same VMS platform? That is, can we install Oracle7 on our machine and create an instance, without affecting our current instances which use Oracle6? Thanks.
