Changing the prompt in sqlplus

Does anyone know how to change the sqlplus prompt from "SQL> " to
"SQL><CR><LF>"?
I have been able to get a carriage return into the prompt but can't
figure out how to get the linefeed in. I've tried stuff like "\n" and
"\012" but sqlplus doesn't seem to undertand the notation.
I am running 7.0.12 on a SUN.
