As part of a postgraduate course in distributed computing, VB seems like a good introduction to developing simple (hopefully!) client/server applications.

Also, cost (as always) becomes a factor. PB would be the ideal way to go. Anyonewant to donate PowerBuilder :-) ?

Have you had any experience with client/server development tools ? Suggestions on any good, affordable tools are welcome.
