Oracle Password expiry

Oracle has a column in sys.dba_users called EXPIRES which is supposed to contain a password expiry date.

Can oracle (V6) be configured to enforce password expiry.

Failing that does anyone have a neat way of implemnting it.

(Ps users are logging in over SQL*NET from an application on a PC - so code could be added to login module )
