The way I've been dealing with it is with some C code that goes out and looks for any processes that match "oracle<sid> T:I,1024". If it finds some, it kills them. This can be run from root (not advisable) or the ORACLE owner's account. My environment is a Macintosh running SQLForms30 and ORACLE 6.0.33 on a Sun SS2. TCP/IP network. Also, this server is the used exclusively for this application.
