Oracle 7 Optimizer Help

This month i'm working on a project about Oracle 7. More precisely about the optimizer. I would appreciate any help, ideas, etc. All i got is a article "Evaluating Optimizers" in the review "Database Programing & Design", and the Oracle 7 manuals.
