I have a problem with the SGA Pad feature of ORACLE on VMS.

I want to increase the size of the SGA for our database from roughly 4Mb to 7Mb. To do this I decided to increase the size of the SGA Pad from the default size of 5120K to 10240K. I followed the procedures as detailed in the manuals, relinking my ORACLE executables and also ensuring that I had sufficient global pages free for the increased SGA Pad.

This all went well until I attempted to start up my database with the new larger SGA. ORACLE still gave me error 7639, thinking that my SGA Pad is still too small to cater for the larger SGA.

Investigation in the ORA_RDBMS directory revealed a number of files "sgapad" (ie .opt,.obj,.mac,.mar) which appear to create a PSECT for the SGA Pad, into which I assume is placed the SGA.

Does anyone know how to examine the size of this PSECT from VMS to ensure it is indeed now 10240K and not still 5120K ?

Does anyone know what image this PSECT is part of ? Examination of the ".map" file for the ORACLEV7.EXE reveals it is not part of this, and yet this is the only ORACLE image we have installed ?
