Now, now. Don't be too judgemental of small businesses (please don't take this as some sort of flame - just a comment). They sometimes have much better support systems than large businesses. I have waited days for support from some of the giants, while getting extremely personal service from single office suppliers of developer tools. It comes down to how propritary their product is, how much it costs and what kind of support they are offering. Could you live on without the promise of constant upgrades. It's a tough call, but you can usually tell a lot about the small company by how easy it is to get them on the phone and how quick they respond to demo requests, etc.

I am biased, however, because I am a small business in terms of full time employees. But you may never know that by the response times we promise for development, upgrade and the like, because that it what I always felt was the hook. Responsiveness, not size. But then I have never been burnt by a small time software company. I am sure if I had I would be a little more cynical.
