The Technology Vision Team of the Administrative Computing & Information Services Department here at Carnegie Mellon University is in the process of evaluating application development tools. In the future we would like to develop our applications using tools that are hardware, RDMS, and network independent but as an intermediate step we are looking at tools that are at least hardware independent and have at least some potential in the other two areas.

Some of the tools that we have looked at are Uniface, Jam, Supernova, Powerbuilder, Westmount, Knowledgeware, Netwise, Sequelink, UDMS, and Focus. We feel that there are probably other candidates out there that we don't know about. If you know of any application development tools that meet any or all of the above criteria please let me know. It would be helpful if you could not only include the vendor name but also their address and telephone number.

If I get enough responses I will summarize them for the net. Thanks in advance.
