About Embedded SQL Syntax??

I have the application written in 'C' with Ingres ESQL as embeded language.
The problem I am facing is I am planing to change the datebase to Oracle on HP-
9000 800 and 700 series. I am not sure whether Oracle's Pro*C ( Embedded SQL) has the same Syntax as that of Ingres. If so, can I just change the Makefile usi ng the different to pre-compile the same source codes.
Any help will be appreciated.
