We tried Oracle V5 on MVS and it assumed it had all resources or that the machine was just for Oracle. Our Systems people had to drop it down to batch priority so it wouldn't clag our production ADABAS/NATURAL applications.

Along came Oracle V6 and it is much better behaved but our Systems people have put a "resources fence" around it so that it won't impact our production applications. We are gradually establishing a corporate "warehouse" RDBMS in Oracle V6 on MVS. Most users are FOCUS access either from the MVS boxes or from our nationwide VAX/VMS Oracle applications.

We have received Oracle V7 for MVS but our biggest problem is getting a consistent/reliable link between MVS and VMS so there isn't much support for moving/running our Production Oracle applications CLIENT/SERVER to the MVS boxes.

Please post a summary of your replies as I'm interested in what's happening out there in MVS/ORACLE world.

PS. The MVS/VMS link problems are not with Oracle, they are with the various

pieces of hardware and software that form the VMS <-> MVS chain.   Received on Thu Jun 10 1993 - 00:27:02 CEST
