Looking for Experience with LARGE DATABASES

If you have experience with implementing and managing a large relational database and are willing to talk about it, please respond. In this context, large database means:

> 50Gbytes of raw data
> 1 billion rows
> 500,000 transactions a day (8 hours), peaking at 30 transactions/second,

     reading/updating >= 20 mio rows (average 40 rows per Transaction),
     plus a substantial requirement for mass (batch overnight) processing
     heavy insert/delete activity

> 1,000 on-line users
